About Takeo

As in many rural villages across Cambodia, Takeo Province consists of numerous places where large groups of children struggle to survive with little adult presence. While some of the children in these villages are true orphans whose parents have died, many of the children have simply been abandoned by parents who seek an escape from poverty by obtaining work in Phnom Penh, about 80 kilometers away from Takeo. The poverty and struggle inside these villages combined with a lack of hope also creates a ripe environment for potential trafficking. For parents who remain in the village, a large amount of money offered in exchange for a child may seem like the only plausible way to escape. Children who are left alone in the village are exposed and vulnerable. Through local leaders, we seek to advocate and care for these children.

Home Of Hope

Home of Hope is our children’s home in the Takeo province of Cambodia. Home of Hope is a place for Cambodian children who have no family or those whose families live in such extreme poverty they do not have enough food for their children to eat. Over 40 children live on site full time while others come regularly to join some of the programs offered. Home of Hope is centered on a foundation of prayer and worship, beginning every day with a time to come together in prayer and to study the Bible. The children spend Monday-Saturday going to the local school with tutoring sessions in the evenings to make sure all of our students are able to succeed in their studies. On Sundays they share their love of Christ and their knowledge as a part of their village outreach. They are cared for and mentored by Pastor Mony and our loving staff.

University Students

As our students continue to grow at Home of Hope, the oldest students have graduated high school and begun university in Phnom Penh. We have the privilege of continuing to partner with them by paying tuition and providing a home where they live together. This gives them the opportunity to be close to their community from the Takeo village and to get the support they need. As often as their school schedule allows, these students travel to Takeo together to help tutor and disciple the younger students at Home of Hope, continuing to develop their skills as leaders and mentors to their younger friends.  They also continue to help with Sunday service and weekly outreach in the villages. Starting small with only 3 students, this program grows every year as more students graduate and pursue their dreams at University.

Village Outreach

Every Sunday, our kids from Home of Hope in Takeo go out in groups of 2 or 3 to the nearby villages. There, they work with other Christians in the community to teach weekly Bible studies for both the adults and children in the community. They bring the hope of Jesus to the villagers who have never heard the Good News before. God continues to grow their outreach as they build relationships with the villagers and as many choose to accept Jesus into their heart.
